In Jamie Langenbrunner’s 1,000th career NHL game, he received a silver stick in a pregame ceremony from Stars general managre Joe Nieuwendyk and scored the game winning goal for the Stars in the second period. The Stars defeated the Kings 2-1 for the first victory against the Kings in Dallas since 2008.

Justin Williams got the scoring started for the Los Angeles Kings with the lone goal in the first period. The goal came off a serious of deflections and just happened to go in. The lone assist on the goal came from Anze Kopitar. The Kings even outshot the Stars 10-9 at the end of the first period.
Dallas found their scoring in the second period and it all came on the powerplay. The first goal came from Loui Eriksson at the 11:32 mark of the second period. Assists on the goal came from Brad Richards and Mike Ribeiro. Eriksson’s goal extended his point streak to 10 games which makes it the current longest streak in the league. The second goal came from Jamie Langenbrunner five minutes later. Langenbrunner scored on a tipped pass from Brad Richards, who had his second assist of the game. The other assist came from Jamie Benn.
The third period of the game was the Stars’ chance to shut down the Kings defensively. The Kings did not get many good scoring chances, but did have a chance to tie up the game in the final minute with a penalty shot chance from Jack Johnson which he missed.
Kari Lehtonen made 22 saves for the win while Jonathan Bernier made 26 saves in the loss. The Stars will travel to Edmonton to face the Oilers on Thursday night while Los Angeles will head to St. Louis to face the Blues on Tuesday.
