Cory Schneider injury: Devils goalie has lower-body injury

Martin Brodeur will get the start on Saturday against the Bruins.

Just when you thought the New Jersey Devils season couldn't get any worse, starting goaltender Cory Schneider is out with a lower body injury and will miss Saturday's game in Boston.

Veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur will get the start in his stead, and the Devils have recalled Keith Kincaid from the Albany Devils of the AHL. Kincaid's recall was made under the NHL's goaltender exemption rule, so the Devils didn't have to remove Schneider from the roster and place him on IR. This means the Devils have 48 hours to either send Kincaid back down or put Schneider on IR.

Schneider injured himself during Thursday's game against the Vancouver Canucks. Much like the team in front of him, Schneider is off to a poor start to the season. He's 1-3-2 with a 2.14 goals against average and a .915 save percentage through six games.
