Bruins vs. Devils: Tuukka Rask lets in tricky own goal

This is why you cover the puck until the whistle blows.

The Bruins were cruising to a nice win against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday until goalie Tuukka Rask committed a rather embarrassing mental error.

New Jersey had started pushing the pace a little late in the second period when forward Damien Brunner fired a backhander towards Rask. Rask managed to get the puck pinned underneath his glove right up against the post...until it somehow escaped.

The funniest moment here is when Rask sees the referee’s goal call and violently catapults the puck over his shoulder without hesitation. He was clearly disgusted, and should be. That puck had no reason to end up in the back of the net. As it is, the Bruins’ lead is down to one, leading the Devils 3-2 after two periods.
