NHL 5 questions: Bobby Ryan debuts, Patrick Roy tries to contain himself

A daily feature which asks the five biggest questions about today’s NHL action. Will they be answered? (That doesn’t count as one of the five questions.)

1. How will Bobby Ryan perform in his Senators debut?

In the wake of Daniel Alfredsson’s departure, the Senators made a major acquisition in trading for Ryan. The scoring forward had registered four consecutive 30-plus goal seasons prior to last year’s truncated season. Playing on the Senators’ top line, Ryan will be expected to continue a similar amount of production, if not more.

2. Will Sergei Bobrovsky continue his dominating performance from last season?

Armed with a lucrative new deal on the back of a Vezina Trophy, Bobrovsky is a key member of the Columbus franchise. Will he continue his performance from last season with a strong showing against the Calgary Flames?

3. Can the Flames rebound from Thursday night’s disappointing loss?

Expectations are low in Calgary this season but the team jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night. Despite two three-goal leads, the Flames ultimately fell to the Capitals by way of a shootout, 5-4. Will the young team be dejected in the tail end of a back-to-back?

4. Will Patrick Roy contain himself against the Nashville Predators?

Yeah, he probably will but it'd be a lot more interesting if he didn't. While Roy's actions in the altercation against the Anaheim Ducks were inappropriate, it was an entertaining story for the sheer ridiculousness of it. Essentially, it was a classic Patrick Roy move.

5. How will John Tavares play?

The new captain of the New York Islanders had a breakout year in 2013. Will he do anything of note in his first game of this season?
