Jack Nicklaus drops puck before Blue Jackets opener

Jack Nicklaus, The Golden Bear, showed up to drop the puck before the Columbus Blue Jackets season opener on Friday night.

It's been quite a while since there was any excitement surrounding the Columbus Blue Jackets, but after their second-half run last season (which was made possible almost entirely by Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky), there seems to be at least a little bit of hope for hockey fans in central Ohio.

They opened their season Friday against the Calgary Flames and had a special guest show up to drop the puck for the ceremonial face-off: legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.

The Blue Jackets gave him a personalized jersey with the No. 18 on the back to represent the number of majors he won during his career.
