Evgeni Malkin injury: Penguins star to miss 1-2 weeks

Malkin will miss time with a non-specific upper-body injury.

According to Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Byslma, Evgeni Malkin will be out for one to two weeks with an upper-body injury. Malkin didn't play in Sunday night's victory over the Islanders, which the Penguins won 6-1.

Malkin, who missed several games earlier this season with a concussion, was injured in Saturday's victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Late in the game, Malkin suffered what looked to be a shoulder injury after a collision with Toronto's James van Riemsdyk. The team still hasn't commented on the exact nature of Malkin's injury, though they have stressed that it is minor and unrelated to his earlier concussion.

The Penguins didn’t miss a step without Malkin in the lineup on Sunday, and are currently riding a five-game winning streak.
