While speculation about a possible Jarome Iginla trade grows more rampant each day, rumors about the Flames' desire to move goalie Miikka Kiprusoff have been flying under the radar for weeks. The latest rumors indicate that the Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in acquiring the veteran netminder.
Miikka Kiprusoff will not report to new team if traded, according to report
Kiprusoff cited “family reasons” for his decision.
If Nick Kypreos is correct, then the Leafs are out of luck. Kypreos reported on Twitter on Tuesday that his sources say Kiprusoff has informed Calgary management that if he is traded he will not report to his new team, citing “family reasons.”
This makes sense from Kipper’s side of things. Kiprusoff has lived in Calgary for most of his career and his wife gave birth to their new son Oskar just a few days ago. And telling Flames management this now instead of on deadline day is a classy move on his part.
Jarome Iginla, however, is still up for grabs.
