Sidney Crosby is expected to stay overnight in a Pittsburgh hospital after taking a puck to the face. Meanwhile, Nazem Kadri and Taylor Hall both registered hat tricks on Saturday.

    NHL scores: Kadri gets tricky

    Jana Chytilova/Freestyle Photo

The Penguins gained Jarome Iginla and Brenden Morrow. Then they lost Sidney Crosby. The Rangers added Rick Nash in the offseason and then lost all sense of direction. And the Maple Leafs gained Nazem Kadri, but we all know you Leafs fans miss Tim Connolly.

The Hockey Gods giveth, and they taketh away.

Sean Avery calls John Tortorella a “clown”

    Bruce Bennett

Strong words from a player who was essentially unable to find employment anywhere else in the league other than Tortorella’s Rangers, but that’s beside the point. Did Avery’s tweet reveal unrest in the locker room that we don’t know about?

    Quick destroys expensive hockey equipment

    USA TODAY Sports

Cullen had previously snapped a howitzer past Quick that the goalie had no chance on. This time, Quick had a chance. It looked like he knew Cullen was going 5-hole the whole way, but let Cullen beat him between the pads anyways.

    Naturally, Quick blamed his stick.

Oilers score three on three shots

    Derek Leung

Kidding, of course. But the first three minutes of Saturday’s game against the Oilers has to go down as one of the most forgettable few minutes of Canucks goaltending in franchise history.

38 seconds later, Taylor Hall took another shot. He scored again.

    Undead Mathieu Perrault celebrates

    Bruce Bennett

What’s striking about this is how glazed over his eyes look. It’s like undead Mathieu Perreault popped up and shook his zombie hands wildly at the camera. It also looks like once he started the dance move thing, something broke and he lost all control of his arms. It completely stopped the entire Capitals celebration.

I hope someone pressed the off button on him or something.

Please remove your hats for Nazem Kadri

    Jana Chytilova/Freestyle Photo

It’s probably fair to say that Lupul and Kadri are one of the top two duos in the NHL right now. Is it also fair to say Kadri should be considered for the Hart Trophy?

Nathan Gerbe: Little guy, big heart

    Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Spor

Gerbe is 5’5. Oleksy is 6’0.

Unlikely fighting partners, right? Gerbe didn’t think so.

Iginla in, Martin out for Penguins

The Penguins offense will get a huge boost today, but their defense will suffer a loss that could potentially be bigger.

Recently acquired winger Jarome Iginla will play his first game today for Pittsburgh, in a bit of an unexpected twist. Iginla was reportedly not expected to play for the Penguins today, but merely make it to Pittsburgh and be with the team. Iginla will play on a line today against the New York Islanders with James Neal and Evgeni Malkin. We wish the Isles a hearty good luck in their endeavor to stop this, as well as Chris Kunitz and that Crosby fellow on the Pens’ “other” top line.

Can the Rangers beat Carey Price in Montreal?

    USA TODAY Sports

1 and 2. Can the New York Rangers get a victory in Montreal? Can they score a goal on Carey Price?

It’s been bad times for the Broadway Blueshirts against Les Habitants. They haven’t won a game in the province of Quebec since Mar. 17, 2009. Chris Drury got the deciding goal in a 4-3 shootout victory over Alexei Kovalev’s Canadiens. They’ve scored one goal on the Canadiens in their last four contests against them combined. Apologies to Ranger fans to go further with this, but the last New York Ranger to score a goal on Carey Price at the Bell Centre? Mats Zuccarello on Jan. 15, 2011.
