Despite making a slow loop around Upton Park last Saturday, applauding the supporters and even giving away his claret and blue scarf, Avram Grant will now be staying at West Ham. The club's board has now given its full support to Grant (something it was reluctant to do in the last few weeks) with co-chairman David Sullivan stating, "West Ham United is a club that does the right thing and the right thing at this time is to support the manager."
Avram Grant To Stay On As West Ham Manager
One can’t help but think that this is just an attempt to backpedal by West Ham. The club were criticized for not standing behind their manager while they struggled. They then lost face when Martin O’Neill rejected their offer to take over as boss, with much of the press saying O’Neill did not like the way the announcement had been leaked. With so many now wondering exactly who would be crazy enough to accept the job with the Irons, it likely was simply a case of West Ham choosing the easy path.
