Hoffenheim Vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach, 2011 Bundesliga: Ibisevic Completes His Return, Scores Winner

Vedad Ibisevic scored his first goal of the season in his second appearance since returning from an injury that sidelined him for the first two months of the campaign.

In the 56th minute, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international jumped a loose ball in the box and was able to poke it into the net before Gladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was able to make the save.

After the goal, Hoffenheim’s defense contained the Gladbach attack well and didn’t allow Marco Reus to get his feet under him in the attack. Daniel Haas was never put any significant pressure, and it was Hoffenheim that actually came closer to scoring again in the second half.

The goal scored by Ibisevic is the first that Hoffenheim has scored in league play since September 17. It was also Ibisevic’s first goal since April 9 of this year. The goal will come as a relief to both the player and the club. The victory points The Hoff on 16 points which is right in the middle of the group that will be fighting for a European place by season’s end.
