Real Madrid this isn't. West Ham United, who sacked Avram Grant following their relegation from the Premier League earlier in May, are apparently close to announcing the acquisition of ex-Bolton and ex-Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce to become the permanent manager of the now-Championship club, according to reports by ESPN Soccernet.
West Ham United Close To Signing Sam Allardyce As Permanent Manager
Allardyce has been out of work since being fired by then-new Blackburn Rovers owners Venky's in September, primarily due to a legendarily ugly (albeit highly effective) playing style, which he would presumably bring to West Ham. Which sounds fun. Fortunately, they won't be on television very much next year - although to be fair to West Ham they probably wouldn't have been playing particularly attractive football under anyone else, either.
Allardyce may have a very high opinion of himself, but he’s a very good manager if you aren’t interested in aesthetics. West Ham will be hoping to come straight back up to the Premier League next season, and there are few better suited for that job than ‘Big Sam’.
