At some point the Seattle Sounders are going to have to learn to defend against long passes to the flanks, right? DC United have doubled their lead through Charlie Davies, with previous goalscorer Josh Wolff turning provider after being fed down the right channel by the influential figure of Andy Najar. Wolff's low cross was inch perfect, and with Davies escaping both Patrick Ianni and James Riley at the far post it was relatively trivial for Davies to slide home, making it 2-0 DC.
DC United Vs. Seattle Sounders: Charlie Davies Doubles Hosts’ Lead
Seattle now have a mountain to climb, so naturally they're starting to foul DC players rather than play actual football. Nate Jaqua ends up in Hilario Grajeda's book of naughty boys for a high challenge on Perry Kitchen that forces the defender off the pitch for treatment. No harm done, though, he's back on a few minutes later. You have to imagine that DC are more than happy with how this game's going - it looks like they're in line for an empathic win after a pair of demoralising defeats. Meanwhile, the Sounders are shaking things up, introducing Mauro Rosales for right back James Riley.
