George John rejoined his FC Dallas teammates in Seattle on Monday as they prepared for Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup semifinal, saying "The timing wasn't right" for a transfer to the Blackburn Rovers.
FC Dallas Still Interested In Re-Signing George John Long Term
“I got over there and it was a really good experience,” John told MLSsoccer.com by phone Monday evening. “They welcomed me with open arms and it’s just that the timing wasn’t right. We are going to maintain a relationship and right now I’m back with FC Dallas.”
FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman indicated that the team was still interested in trying to sign John to a longterm contract. John and his agent have resisted in the past. His contract, which currently pays him just $42,000, is due to run out at the end of 2012. According to the MLSsoccer.com article, John was noncommittal about the possibility of re-signing with Dallas. He said he met with teammates and seemed to think there were no hard feelings.
