It hasn’t been a happy season for Lionel Messi, and now it’s getting a lot worse. The Barcelona and Argentina star was pulled out of Sunday’s match against Real Betis with an apparent hamstring problem, and, after running a series of tests, the club have now revealed the extent of the injury.
Lionel Messi tears hamstring, out ‘6-8 weeks’
Barcelona have released the results of the tests run on Lionel Messi’s left hamstring. And they’re not good news for anyone.
The Club’s medical services confirmed after tests this Monday morning that Leo Messi has a torn hamstring muscle in his left thigh and is expected to miss the next 6 to 8 weeks.
Messi’s already missed four weeks to two other, unrelated knocks this season, and the 26-year-old has looked increasingly injury-prone over the past calendar year. And although there’s been talk of him playing at a lower level recently, he’s still been scoring at scorching rates, averaging a goal per game in the Champions League and La Liga so far. Going without him for almost two months is going to be a major challenge.
