Gareth Barry loaned to Everton

Manchester City have found a home for Gareth Barry, who reinforces the midfield at Everton.

Gareth Barry, who had no shot of starting regularly at Manchester City this season, has moved on to Everton where he'll have many more opportunities for playing time as he tries to win a spot in Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad. He'll provide the Toffees, who were a bit thin in the center of midfield, with some much needed depth.

Barry is an experienced player who is almost certainly still Premier League quality, but he’s seen better days. The 32-year-old is closing in on 700 competitive games in professional football and he probably doesn’t have a ton left in the tank.

Whether or not Marouane Fellaini departs, Barry should have opportunities to play at Everton, and Roberto Martinez is unlikely to view him as a Fellaini replacement. Ross Barkley and Leon Osman have both played in the center of midfield this season, but both have more experience playing in advanced positions. Darron Gibson seems to get injured quite often as well, so Barry will get minutes on a regular basis
