Scott HeaveyMcCarthy joins Everton from Wigan

Laurence GriffithsWigan and Everton were arguing over both the size of the fee and the payment mechanism until deep into the evening, but a few minutes before the window closed the sides announced that they’d agreed on a £13 million fee, and now the Toffees have officially confirmed McCarthy’s arrival (along with several other deals).
McCarthy comes with plenty of Premier League experience, and he’ll probably be thrilled to be able to play in the top flight without the constant threat of relegation looming over his head. Meanwhile, Wigan get a whole boatload of cash and Everton get a fine player. Everyone’s a winner!
Read Article >Kamara moves from Sporting KC to Middlesbrough

Jamie McDonaldWhile this might seem like an odd move, it likely represents a chance for Kamara, 29, to get a decent payday while he’s still on the right side of 30. Middlesbrough has been a mid-table team for each of their previous four seasons in the Championship and are currently sitting in 16th place in the 24-team league through five matches.
Despite their recent struggles, Boro was one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992 and spent only one year in the Championship before their most recent relegation. They also advanced to the UEFA Cup final in 2006.
Read Article >Gareth Barry moves to Everton

Robert CianfloneBarry is an experienced player who is almost certainly still Premier League quality, but he’s seen better days. The 32-year-old is closing in on 700 competitive games in professional football and he probably doesn’t have a ton left in the tank.

Jan KrugerThe long transfer saga over the Belgium international looked like it would end in disappointment for the Red Devils, but nearly an hour after the window closed, Everton announced that the two sides had done the deal just in time.
Manchester United were dealt a blow earlier on Monday when their pursuit of Ander Herrera came up short and with the Fellaini deal looking unlikely, it looked set to be a disastrous window the Red Devils. But they have gotten Fellaini now, giving them at least one player to improve a midfield that so desperately needs an upgrade.

Robert CianfloneRedknapp won’t care much why Tottenham are loaning their players out -- he just wants to improve the team. Both Assou-Ekotto and Carroll will do just that.

Read Article >Dossena goes to Sunderland on loan

Marco LuzzaniSunderland need defensive help, having conceded five times in three matches so far. They have managed just one point as a result, although their two goals scored haven’t helped either.
Dossena becomes the fourth Italian in Paolo Di Canio’s squad, which has undergone a significant overhaul this summer. He is one of 14 new players to join the Black Cats.

Laurence GriffithsThe deal had been rumoured all day, but it’s a bit of a surprise that the Baggies have broken their transfer record to sign the Benin international. Sessegnon’s a bit of a gamble, considering his mercurial form with the Black Cats, but he’s undoubtedly got plenty of quality, quality Steve Clarke’s side definitely needs -- they still haven’t scored a goal yet this season.

Read Article >Juan Iturbe joins Hellas Verona on loan from Porto

Dennis GrombkowskiIt’s definitely an interesting move for both parties. Hellas now have a player who was once very highly rated, offering an advanced, central creative option that they previously didn’t have. As for Iturbe, he’ll find more game time than at Porto, and the opportunity to prove just how good he can be.

Claudio VillaSwansea sign Alvaro Vasquez on loan to buy

Denis DoyleAlvaro Vazquez has failed to fulfill his promise thus far, but Michael Laudrup is willing to take a chance on the 22-year-old Spanish striker and former wonderkid. Swansea City have announced that they have taken Vazquez on loan from Getafe with an option to make his transfer permanent at the end of the loan spell.
Vazquez was spectacular in the 2011 Under-20 World Cup and has been solid for the Spanish Under-21 national team, but has yet to turn those performances into great seasons in senior football. He scored just 10 goals in his 60 La Liga appearances for Espanyol before he was sold to Getafe. In one season there, he netted just four goals.

Laurence GriffithsStoke is about as good of a landing spot as he could have hoped for. The midfielder had the best season of his career in 2008-09 under Hughes and winning a spot in the Stoke midfield won’t be the toughest of tasks.

Read Article >Crystal Palace sign Mariappa from Reading

Scott HeaveyOn an article on the club’s official website, Palace confirmed that they had bolstered their defence with the signing of the 26-year-old Jamaican international and former Watford man.
Mariappa said: “I’m delighted to be joining Palace and playing in the Premier League again. It’s something everyone dreams of doing.
Read Article >Ki signs for Sunderland on loan

Warren LittleKi, who has starred for Celtic and the South Korean national team in recent years, had a bit of an up-and-down season with the Swans during their last campaign. He put in plenty of good performances and showed flashes of brilliance, but was not consistent for Michael Laudrup’s side. With Swansea bringing in a couple of midfielders from La Liga this summer, Ki was expendable.

Read Article >Barnetta loaned to Eintracht

Friedemann VogelSchalke added Christian Clemens and Leon Goretzka over the summer. Neither is as much of a pure winger as Barnetta, but both have played wide. The same goes for highly touted youngster Max Meyer, who will probably see quite a bit of time in wide areas as Julian Draxler becomes Schalke’s primary No. 10. Jefferson Farfan is first choice on the right flank, while Chinedu Obasi is still on the books at Schalke as well.
Eintracht have struggled to start the season, taking just three points from their first four games. Their starting wingers Takashi Inui and Stefan Aigner were both solid last season, but neither has their first team spot locked down.
Read Article >Arnautovic joins Stoke City

Getty ImagesArnautovic will be hoping to put in a more solid performance with his new club than he managed last year -- but underperforming with Bremen last season is hardly a marked blemish on his record, since that was true of the vast majority of his teammates.
In Arnautovic, Stoke are getting a dangerous, physical forward who can also play out wide when required. He’s signed with the Potters on a four-year deal, and according to the Daily Mail the transfer fee was around £2 million. Not too shabby -- even if he doesn’t work out this will hardly cripple Mark Hughes’ side financially.
Read Article >WBA acquire Morgan Amalfitano

Dennis GrombkowskiWest Bromwich Albion are picking up some much-needed help: The struggling midlands side have picked up Morgan Amalfitano on a loan-to-buy deal from Marseille. The 28-year-old midfielder, who’s been with Marseille since 2011, will hopefully help spark a Baggies’ attack that’s struggled badly so far this season despite the addition of former Chelsea man Nicolas Anelka.
Amalfitano doesn’t score many goals, but he’ll help Steve Clarke’s side on both sides of the ball, and he can move into central midfield if required. Since this is a loan to buy, there’s basically no risk -- if he fails to adapt to the Premier League, he’ll be shipped off back to Ligue 1 at the end of the season. West Brom will also get a boost through the return of Zoltan Gera, returning from a serious knee injury at the end of the month. Better days are ahead.

Lars BaronIt’s a solid addition for City who need some defensive depth and head coach Manuel Pellegrini is very familiar with what the 32-year-old can bring the table after coaching him at Malaga and River Plate. The deal is reportedly worth £4.2 million, not a bad turnaround for Atletico considering they didn’t pay anything to sign the Argentine back in July.
It’s believed that Diego Simeone was content to make the move with his club on the verge of signingToby Alderweireld from Ajax.

D DipasupilRoma sell Erik Lamela to Spurs

Paul Frederiksen-USA TODAY SportRoma released a brief, official statement outlining the deal in one succinct paragraph. Very efficient.
Lamela is a 21-year-old forward who began his professional career with River Plate in 2009 before moving to Italy in 2011 when he signed with Roma in a €14 million deal. Lamela made 62 appearances with the club over two seasons, scoring 19 goals. He’s also earned three caps with the Argentina national team.
Read Article >Dorlan Pabón joins Valencia

Claudio VillaOriginally signed by Italian club Parma last summer, the lively forward struggled with personal problems and fell out of favour with coach Roberto Donadoni. The crociati agreed a deal to sell him to Monterrey at the end of a loan spell with Betis, which went rather better than expected. Pabón finally delivered on his potential, scoring eight goals in 17 league games at the verdiblancos, while playing as the central attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1.
