Chelsea confirm signing of Kurt Zouma from AS Saint-Etienne

Chelsea have confirmed that they have signed AS Saint-Etienne’s young centre-back Kurt Zouma, with the french defender returning to the club for the rest of the season on loan.

Chelsea have won the race to snap up AS Saint-Etienne's young centre-back Kurt Zouma, with the youngster heading back to the Ligue 1 club on loan for the rest of the season.

The Blues announced the deal ahead of José Mourinho’s press conference on their official website, confirming that the youngster would not be joining up with the Chelsea squad until summer.

Zouma, a highly-rated young powerful centreback, had been linked with a host of top clubs around the world, but Chelsea have pulled off yet another coup in securing his signature, their third of the window after Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah.

Although the move won't strengthen them for the title run-in, it'll certainly give them more options for next season as Mourinho rebalances his squad in the wake of the sale of Juan Mata to Manchester United, who had also been linked to Zouma before he decided to move to the Blues.
