Wayne Hennessey signs for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey for an undisclosed fee.

Crystal Palace have waited until deadline day to complete their first signing of the January window, bringing Welsh international goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey in from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old had spent his entire professional career at Wolves, after joining as a youth player from Manchester City back in 2003. His departure had grown increasingly inevitable of late, as he was forced to apologise for refusing to play in the third-tier club's game with Gillingham earlier this month, citing a lack of focus resulting from transfer speculation.

Hennessey will likely go straight into Palace's squad for their match with Arsenal this weekend, though he may not immediately be able to seize the first team gloves from veteran Argentine Julián Speroni. Tony Pulis' side have kept back-to-back Premier League clean sheets in wins against Stoke City and Hull City, and are now up to 14th place in the table.
