On Friday night, the Boston Red Sox are playing host to the Milwaukee Brewers. Facing Shaun Marcum in the bottom of the first, Carl Crawford tapped a slow grounder to the left side and hustled down the line for an infield single. The single extended the inning, but it came at a cost: Crawford pulled up, having injured his leg.
Carl Crawford Injury: Red Sox Outfielder Strains Hamstring Running
It didn't look too bad in real time, but Crawford was visited by the trainer at first base and had to come out of the game. He was replaced by Darnell McDonald.
Crawford has since been diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and while the severity isn’t yet known, it’s probably unlikely that he’ll play on Saturday, at the very least. Crawford has heated up at the plate since a godawful start to the season, so it would be a blow to the Red Sox if he has to miss more than a day or three.
