A day after straining his hamstring while running out a grounder against the Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford is hitting the disabled list. From the Boston Herald’s Michael Silverman:
Carl Crawford Placed On Disabled List With Hamstring Injury
Tito: Medical staff said would be 10-14 days for Crawford. DL decision a 'no-brainer.' #RedSox will use McDon, Cam, Reddick, Sutton in OF
After getting off to his disappointing start this season, Boston’s top free agency prize in the off-season has righted the ship, having slapped a .794 OPS since May 1st.
The abbreviated gentlemen referenced in the above tweet are Darnell McDonald (journeyman with 32 plate appearances in 2011), Mike Cameron (veteran who appears to be in the twilight of his career; also, fun fact, I sprained my finger off his foul ball while trying to catch it when I was 12), Josh Reddick (5-for-13 this season), and Drew Sutton (switch-hitter who is 11-for-34 this season). We’ll see whether this setback can slow down a Red Sox squadron that has won nine of its last 10.
