Bryant McKinnie Claims He Asked Vikings To Release Him

It's never a good sign when you're going to TMZ as the media source to back up your claims but former Minnesota Vikings OT Bryant McKinnie told them that the reason the Vikings cut him was because he asked them to following his benching over health issues.

“McKinnie was placed on the reserve/non-injury list yesterday, after doctors said his cholesterol was too high and he had to lose weight -- but McKinnie tells us, “I’ll definitely be ready for next season. That’s not even a question.”

The Vikings have also released a statement regarding the move:

“This decision, while not an easy one, is in the best interests of our football team as we move forward preparing for the season. We appreciate Bryant’s contributions to the Vikings, and we wish him the best in the future.”

The move does give McKinnie time to sign with another team. However, it’s going to be interesting to see if anyone takes a chance on him given the health concerns.
