The Raiders and Jaguars square off in a Week 2 matchup with limited, but still intriguing, fantasy football potential. The Raiders looked good in their loss to the Colts, but the Jaguars looked like the worst team in the NFL, getting destroyed in Kansas City. Terrelle Pryor was a big story for Week 1 and the Jaguars won't have Blaine Gabbert, so there's plenty to watch for in this game. To help out on fantasy implications, numberFire released their projections for this late-afternoon game.
Fantasy football projections, Jaguars vs. Raiders: Terrelle Pryor, Maurice Jones-Drew, Cecil Shorts and more
We break down the pertinent fantasy projections for the Week 2 matchup between the Jaguars and Raiders.
Jaguars
Not having Blaine Gabbert in the lineup actually helps the Jaguars. They moved the ball more effectively with Chad Henne running the offense last season and that should continue, especially against the Raiders. Henne is still far too risky to start in fantasy, but Cecil Shorts is expected to bounce back. Shorts did see 11 targets last, but turned them into just 40 yards. Thanks, Gabbert.
Maurice Jones-Drew is still learning the zone-blocking scheme and there will be some growing pains. Fortunately, the Raiders run D is weak and he could have a nice bounce-back game so he’s a must-start player.
Raiders
Pryor stole the show from Andrew Luck in fantasy with his 112 rushing yards, but the projections suggest he won't be anywhere near that this week. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him crack 80, but the Jaguars are likely going to run less man coverage schemes and keep their eyes on the young QB in his third career start.
The Chiefs scored in bunches on Sunday vs. Jacksonville, and Darren McFadden has an excellent chance to be in double-digit scoring yet again this week. As for their receivers, it's a total crap shoot. Denarius Moore is the best bet for the most production with his big-play ability, but Rod Streater can also be a force for his catches over the middle. We're not willing to start either, though.
