Vernon Davis is to Jordan Reed as Trey Burton is to Zach Ertz. That is to say when Reed or Ertz cannot fulfill their duties at tight end, then Davis and Burton are quality replacements. Both Davis and Burton delivered top 10 performances in Week 9. Davis did it with yardage and Burton did it with one big touchdown reception. The Eagles are on bye this week and Jordan Reed is no guarantee to play with an aggravated hamstring. Vernon gets the Vikings, but he will still be a great option if Reed sits.

Along with Philadelphia, the Raiders, Ravens and Chiefs are also on vacation. So you will need to find replacements for Travis Kelce, Ben Watson, Jared Cook and the aforementioned Zach Ertz. Unfortunately, there really aren’t many great alternatives to be found. Tight end is not what one would call a “deep” position in fantasy football.
Eric Ebron showed signs of life in Week 9 and he gets a great matchup against the Browns this week, but he is still a poor play since he has lost significant snaps to Darren Fells. Ed Dickson also has a nice matchup, but was a ghost last week. George Kittle has already been declared out against the Giants, who don’t believe in defending tight ends. You can do worse than streaming Garrett Celek (brother of Brent and Tom) on Sunday who should be see a big uptick in targets. Coby Fleener is probably available in your league and for good reason, but if you need a cheap DFS play I could see him snagging a TD against a bad Miami defense that just gave up TE1 numbers to Jared Cook.
