Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Quarterback rankings for Week 15

Week 14 of the 2017 regular season is just about coming to a close with the Monday Night Football game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.

We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change and news arrives. The following ownership percentages come via CBS Sportsline entering Week 14.

If you’re in one of the 30 percent of leagues that haven’t added Bortles and you aren’t feeling great about your quarterback heading into the playoff weeks, I implore you to get Bortles on your team. Not only has Bortles topped 20 fantasy points for three straight games — including a shredding of the Seahawks on Sunday — he draws two of the best possible matchups for quarterbacks in Weeks 15 and 16. Houston allows the most fantasy points to QBs and San Francisco allows the fourth-most. Bortles is about to be the fantasy hero of 2017.

The 49ers are now 2-0 in the Jimmy G era after he put up 334 yards and a touchdown against the Texans. It was good enough for 17 fantasy points, and next week Garoppolo gets to face the Titans, who have been a passer-friendly defense all season. Garoppolo will be hard to trust in Week 16 against Jacksonville, but for a one-week playoff stream, Garoppolo is worth a shot.

Gabbert struggled against the Titans on Sunday, his second straight underwhelming performance, which is concerning, but his schedule in the playoff weeks is hard to pass up. The Redskins rank 20th against quarterbacks and Week 16 opponent, the Giants, are ranked 30th. He’s a poor man’s Bortles, schedule-wise, but available in far more leagues.

Flacco is another quarterback with a tremendous Week 15-16 schedule who also has two legit wide receiver options in Jeremy Maclin and Mike Williams. The Browns and Colts are both in the bottom third in the league in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Flacco is a pretty scary reach, but he did put up 22 points in Week 13, so it’s not impossible that he comes up big.

Better late than never? He still makes bad rookie mistakes and his team is still winless, but for all his faults, Kizer is actually playing his best football of the season right now. He has Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman healthy and producing and Kizer is still racking up yards with his legs. He put up 22 points on Sunday and though his schedule is tough in Weeks 15-16, he is showing life at the right time.
