Week 2 of the 2017 regular season is just about coming to a close with the Monday Night game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.

We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change and news arrives. The following ownership percentages come via CBS Sportsline after Week 1.

Devin Funchess, Carolina Panthers (13)

Life for the Carolina passing game will never be the same – or at least for a few weeks anyway. Greg Olsen’s broken foot is going to change so much about how Cam Newton attacks defenses through the air, and one change may have shown itself on Sunday. Funchess, who has been all potential and no results in his brief NFL career, was targeted seven times, second-most on the team. He caught four for 68 yards, which would make for a decent flex performance. There might be more where that came from.

Jermaine Kearse, New York Jets (8)

Kearse is now the only reason to pay any attention to the Jets – unless you picked against them in survivor leagues. The newly-acquired Jet – he obviously hasn’t been there long enough to understand the team is tanking the season – caught four passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns, after grabbing 7 of 9 targets in Week 1. Considering the Jets will be trailing in every game this season, he’s going to be busy and he seems to actually like playing well. He really needs to get the memo.

Brandon Coleman, New Orleans Saints (3)

Michael Thomas is the unquestioned No. 1 in this passing offense, but Coleman made a pretty good case to be No. 2 on Sunday, hauling in 4 of 6 targets for 82 yards and a touchdown. Especially in games at the Superdome – the Coors Field of fantasy football – there are catches to be made in this offense, so Coleman is someone who can help in bye-week situations.

Jaron Brown, Arizona Cardinals (3)

Considering the Cardinals gave Chris Johnson 11 carries on Sunday, it’s safe to say the compensation for the loss of David Johnson is coming through the air. J.J. Nelson had the biggest performance Sunday, but Brown was plenty busy with 11 targets. He only caught four for 73 yards, but if Carson Palmer is going to look his way that often, eventually Brown will post numbers worth a roster spot.

Rashard Higgins, Cleveland Browns (0)

Who? Higgins was on the practice squad a week ago, then suddenly, he’s being targeted 11 times against the Ravens. Higgins made the most of his golden opportunity, catching seven passes for 95 yards. Kenny Britt is deep in the doghouse in Cleveland, so this is a situation worth monitoring – and a roster spot.
