With two weeks down in the fantasy football season, we’re starting to get a better idea of where teams stand in 2017. It’s still a bit too early to be making any drastic changes to your roster, but owners should always be keeping an eye on the waiver wire in case injury or slumps are putting a dent in your lineup.
Fantasy football waiver wire: Best quarterbacks available in Week 3

Much has been written about the state of quarterback play in the NFL, and there have been some major struggles from the likes of Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, and Kirk Cousins. The good news is that, outside of Andrew Luck, the position has avoided major injuries so far. If owners are looking for some streaming options with the bye weeks around the corner, here are the top quarterbacks owned in 50 percent or less of Yahoo! leagues.
Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs (51 percent)
Smith obviously didn’t repeat his career performance from Week 1, but he was still efficient in picking apart the Philadelphia Eagles, completing 21 of 28 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown. He still hasn’t thrown an interception this season and should stay on the QB2 radar with the Chiefs’ offense humming along. Smith gets the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.
Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings (33 percent)
Bradford sat out Week 2 with a knee issue, and the Vikings offense predictably tanked with Case Keenum under center. As of now, Bradford is expected to return in Week 3, but fantasy owners will have to watch the injury reports first. If he plays, he’ll be a decent streaming option after dismantling the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a much tougher matchup, but Bradford is worth looking at in deeper leagues.
Jay Cutler, Miami Dolphins (29 percent)
Cutler’s box score stats didn’t pop (24-of-33 passing, 230 yards, one touchdown), but he looked comfortable in the Dolphins offense and kept the ball moving. He’s clearly within his element in Adam Gase’s system. The offense still runs through Jay Ajayi, but Cutler has the potential for big fantasy weeks, making him a streaming option more often than not. Cutler has one of the best Week 3 matchups when the Dolphins face the tanking New York Jets
Trevor Siemian, Denver Broncos (13 percent)
It’s probably time to start taking Siemian seriously after another good performance, picking apart the Dallas Cowboys for four touchdowns and 231 yards on 22-of-32 passing. Siemian will never be a high-yardage passer in that Denver offense, but he already has six touchdown passes through two games. The Broncos offense has been way more functional with a healthy C.J. Anderson. Siemian will have an intriguing Week 3 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.
