Steve Smith Scheduled For New York Giants Visit This Week

Steve Smith has scheduled a visit with the New York Giants this week. The free agent wide receiver is recovering from microfracture surgery on his knee.

Former New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith is scheduled to visit New Jersey this week to discuss re-signing with the team. Smith took to Facebook on Sunday evening to let his fans know what is going on:

To clear up some rumors, i was NOT at practice today but i WILL be in NJ to meet with the giants this wk... well see what happens from there !! thanks again for all the support and ill try my best to keep u all updated...

Having played on the team since his rookie year in 2007, Smith doesn’t need to be sold on playing for the Giants. He’ll be there to let the team know how his knee is recovering from microfracture surgery. Smith had a season-ending knee injury in December that required surgery and the recovery is not yet over.

The Giants are the only team he has scheduled a meeting with, likely due to his knee. The prevailing thought is that Smith will miss at least the first month of the season. A return to the Giants is his likely course of action, provided the team is confident in how well the knee will hold up.
