While there is no question in Denver as to who the starting quarterback will be, the competition to be Peyton Manning's backup is heating up.
How About Adam Weber As Peyton Manning’s Backup?
The Broncos signed free agent Caleb Hanie and drafted Brock Osweiler in the second round, but it may be Adam Weber who wins the No. 2 job. Weber, who spent last season on the Broncos practice squad, operated as the No. 2 quarterback during the Broncos recent minicamp.
The three players will battle for the backup job during training camp, but for now Weber is saying all of the right things.
“A long time ago, I made a decision that I’m not going to worry about things I can’t control,” Weber said via the Denver Post. “I don’t read too much into it. As long as I get an opportunity to take a snap, I’ve got a chance.”
Weber signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He holds the University of Minnesota record for passing yards and touchdown passes.
