After an ugly first half, the Browns made things a little too close in KC but the Chiefs held on to stay undefeated.
Chiefs’ win a mixed bag effort

David WelkerKansas City remains the class of the NFL after defeating the Browns in Week 8. The Chiefs jumped up to a double-digit lead at halftime and were able to close the game with their league-leading eighth win of the season. The combination of big plays and dominating defense allowed for the Chiefs to maintain a two score lead for most of the game, despite the two-touchdown performance of Browns quarterback Jason Campbell.
Matt Verderame of Arrowhead Pride believes the Chiefs defense did a good job, but did give away a few big plays against the Browns:

Denny Medley-USA TODAY SportsCampbell was an unexpectedly strong fantasy start, throwing for 293 yards and two scores. Josh Gordon came up big as well, leading the team with five receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown.
Charles left the game for a series in the second half after injuring his knee, but returned shortly thereafter and finished the game. McCluster also missed a series with a wrist injury and returned.

Mike McGinnisBenjamin, a one-time Pro Bowler, was injured while returning a punt late in the third quarter. After making a pair of men miss, he tried to spin out of a tackle around the 30-yard line and was hit on his knee. He could be seen writhing in pain on the ground after the hit.
The Browns are currently in the fourth quarter of an upset bid, losing 20-17.

Al MesserschmidtCharles suffered the injury at some point early in the third quarter of Sunday’s game. He was seen riding a stationary bike on the Chiefs sideline and wearing helmet, so there was always some possibility that he would return even after going down.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY SportsFor his part, Campbell actually hasn’t had a bad game, at least looking at his stat line. He’s gone 9-of-14 for 131 yards and the one touchdown. He’s been plagued by drops from his receiving corps, but hasn’t helped himself with several off-target throws.
Gordon has two receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Ron Schwane-USA TODAY SportsThe Browns offense in the first half against the Chiefs was an embarrassment, but somehow, with just -2 rushing yards, they got the KC secondary to bite on a flea-flicker. Jason Campbell hit Josh Gordon, the Browns only real threat on offense, over the top for a quick touchdown.
That one play gained as many yards as the Browns offense had posted in the entire first half to that point, so naturally Gordon felt the need to gloat in the end zone:

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY SportCameron and Gordon are talented and are likely to be valued very highly by the Browns. Per La Canfora, it is expected to cost teams high picks to acquire either player. The Browns have been shopping the bottom of their roster along with the three previously mentioned pass catchers, and have been among the most active teams leading up to the deadline, according to La Canfora.
There are plenty of teams in the league that could use an upgrade at tight end and wide receiver, so the Browns may fetch large offers for their young talent.

Jamie SquireWhile Bowe has not been as active of a target as he has in past years, he is still a big part of the Chiefs offense. Through seven games, Bowe has collected 25 receptions for 295 yards and two touchdowns. The undefeated Chiefs are strong defensively, but having as many weapons as possible on offense is a plus.
The Chiefs will host the Browns at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.

Andy LyonsThe upcoming matchup doesn’t do him any favors. The Chiefs may have the best defense in football and eat quarterbacks for lunch. They have allowed the fewest points in the league so far and have an absurd 35 sacks in just seven games. It’s not a friendly environment for any quarterback to step into.
