Mike Adams injury: Steelers lineman out 6 weeks after stabbing

Mike Adams should be ready for training camp despite being stabbed Saturday morning, but he will be miss six weeks while recovering.

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams will be out for around six weeks, according to Mike Garofolo of USA Today. Adams had surgery after being stabbed during an apparent robbery attempt Saturday morning.

The second-year player was stabbed in the stomach during an attempted carjacking by three assailants, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL.com. No major organs were hit and Adams is resting in the hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery. No arrests have been made in the robbery attempt.

The Steelers drafted Adams in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He started six games during his rookie year before being placed on injured reserve. Adams is expected to win the starting job at right tackle this season.

This situation could have been much worse, and Adams is extremely fortunate that he will make a full recovery in time for training camp. He’s in good spirits at the hospital, tweeting this out after waking up from surgery:
