We've got a full slate of games on Sunday, thanks to bye weeks being a thing of the past and a Thursday that wasn't crowded with three Thanksgiving matchups. There was just one Thursday game this week, a 41-28 victory by the Dallas Cowboys over the Chicago Bears. We've got 14 games coming up on Sunday.
NFL TV schedule, Week 14: Steelers vs. Bengals, Seahawks vs. Eagles headline Sunday games
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals highlight Sunday’s early slate of games as they battle for the NFC North, while the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles could be fighting for playoff seeding in the afternoon.
Nine of those games are in the morning slot, and among those are a couple gems. The biggest game is the AFC North showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati is 8-3-1 with the lead in the division, while the Steelers are 7-5, with two games still remaining against the Bengals. Winning on the road would be a huge first step in taking over the division.
There's more divisional relevance to be had in the morning, when the Carolina Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers are 3-8-1, but they're still technically in the running for the NFC South, the worst division in football. New Orleans is tied with the Atlanta Falcons at 5-7 for the lead in the division. The Falcons are coming off a big win over the Arizona Cardinals, but they've got the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, so the Saints have a big opportunity here.
In the afternoon, three of the four games should be exceptional. The first is the game between the Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Cardinals are atop the NFC West but they're trying to hold off the Seattle Seahawks, while the Chiefs are fighting for a wild card spot and the AFC West. They trail the Denver Broncos, who should move into double-digit wins with a victory over the Buffalo Bills in the afternoon.
The other game is a match between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seahawks. Philadelphia is trying to maintain its lead atop the NFC East, while the Seahawks are trying to catch the Cardinals. The final afternoon game will see the 7-5 San Francisco 49ers try and stay alive against the 1-11 Oakland Raiders.
It will all culminate in the stellar Sunday Night Football game between the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers. San Diego is still in the running in the AFC West, while the Patriots have a healthy lead in their division. This game means a lot more for the Chargers, but it's going to be tough to take down Tom Brady and the Patriots.
