NFL injury report: Justin Forsett, Larry Fitzgerald could play Sunday

With many fantasy leagues starting the playoffs in Week 14, SB Nation medical expert Dr. Ali Mohamadi gives insight into the most notable injuries in the NFL landscape and how they might affect your roster decisions.

Baltimore running back Justin Forsett, who has been a pleasant fantasy surprise this season, looks likely to suit up Sunday when the Ravens face Miami despite dealing with a knee injury all week. After missing practices through Thursday, Forsett returned Friday and Saturday and seems to be ready for action in a key matchup in the AFC playoff race. If Forsett is unable to make it through the contest, Bernard Pierce and Lorenzo Taliaferro would be likely to split carries in the Baltimore backfield.

Julius Thomas left early in Denver's Week 11 loss to St. Louis after suffering an ankle injury following a reception, and has missed the past two weeks of action as a result. Although X-rays and an MRI were negative for significant bone or ligament damage, and despite resting the ankle, Thomas has remained limited in practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest with Buffalo. Although no decision has been made on Thomas's status, reports as late as Saturday evening indicated uncertainty as to whether he would play. The amount of swelling and pain he experiences during warmups, and the extent to which range of motion of the ankle joint is limited, will determine whether he might suit up. Keep an eye out for news as the morning moves on, and prepare to have a backup plan in place at tight end.

Also missing action the past two weeks was Cardinals' wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald who suffered an MCL sprain of his left knee in Week 11 and was unable to suit up in losses to Seattle and Atlanta. The Cardinals have classified the injury as a Grade 2 sprain, which typically requires 4-6 weeks of recovery, but news out of Arizona is Fitzgerald stands a good chance of playing against Kansas City. If he isn't able to make it through pregame warmups, John Brown and Michael Floyd would be likely to see more targets from Drew Stanton.

The Giants not only lost last week's contest to Jacksonville, but also lost Rashad Jennings to an ankle injury in the fourth quarter. The running back is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Titans. Despite being unable to put weight on the ankle without pain following the game, Jennings returned to practice Friday and traveled with the team to Tennessee. His status is likely to be determined during warmups. Running back Andre Williams is waiting in the wings as needed if Jennings in unable to play.

Cleveland running back Isaiah Crowell has been dealing with a hip injury all week that kept him limited in practices and listed as questionable for this week's home contest against Indianapolis. For his part, Crowell sounded optimistic about his ability to take the field, but if he is unable to suit up, Terrance West, who has seen decreasing action lately due to fumbling issues, would likely get the start for the Browns.
