Jamaal Charles returns to the field vs. Cardinals after leaving with injury
The Chiefs appear to have survived a scare, after Jamaal Charles left Sunday’s game with an apparent ankle injury.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles suffered a left ankle injury early in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. His return to the game is questionable, according to the Chiefs. He was hurt on a tackle with less than three minutes left in the first quarter. He started to limp off the field, but stopped, took a knee and had to have the trainers come out to help him to the sideline.
Charles fumbled the ball on the play where he was injured. A review determined that he was down, giving the ball back to the Chiefs. But that would be of little consolation if Kansas City loses its best offensive player. Charles was being evaluated on the sideline as the second quarter began, but later was taken to the locker room.
Charles was off to a big start in this game. He had three carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. His score came on a 63-yard run with 9:48 remaining in the first quarter, his longest run of the season. The veteran running back entered Sunday with 807 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, along with another four receiving touchdowns this season.
