Peyton Manning not upset about TD streak ending

His streak of 51 games with a touchdown pass ended Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

By the end of his career, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will hold most of the NFL's significant passing records. However, his run at the most consecutive games with a touchdown pass record ended this past Sunday during a close 24-17 win over the Buffalo Bills. Still, the veteran quarterback isn't fretting over the busted record.

“I’ve broken a lot of records and set a lot of records,” Manning said to Mike Klis of The Denver Post. “I don’t think it was important to set another record.”

Manning had multiple chances to extend the streak on Sunday, but the Broncos elected to feed C.J. Anderson in the red zone instead. The second-year running back responded with a career-high three rushing touchdowns, all scored inside the 10-yard line.

What's remarkable is just how close Manning came to breaking the record. He entered the week having thrown at least one touchdown pass in his previous 51 games. That mark fell one short of rival Tom Brady's 52-game streak and just three off Drew Brees' all-time record of 54.

Manning shouldn’t feel too bad though. He already holds many records, including for the most career touchdown passes (527 and counting), most touchdown passes (55) and passing yards (5,477) in a single season.
