14 moments that defined the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. It happened. They went to Las Vegas. They threw punches. They dodged some of those punches. They got paid. Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in the 10th round of one of the fiscally richest and morally bankrupt boxing matches of all time.

You may have opted to tune it out. You may have tried to tune in but been thwarted by pay-per-view problems. Or you may have watched and been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fight.

Spoiler Alert: No one was sent into orbit.

Whether you skipped the fight or just want to relive the action, here are some of the defining moments of the night:

As has become the norm for Mayweather fights, the pay-per-view streams were struggling. The outages and complaints were so widespread that the fight was actually delayed until midnight.

The highlight of the Mayweather-McGregor undercard may very well have been Gervonta Davis’ fuzzy gear.

McGregor appeared confident and competent in Round 1, pushing the pace in the cagey, early going.

Referee Robert Byrd chastised McGregor for using a move not permitted in boxing.

Whether it was because Floyd was actually turning his back or McGregor was sidestepping in an unorthodox fashion, there were several odd spoon clinches that inspired the jokes.

After the boxing debutant set the tone for much of the first three rounds, Mayweather began to assert himself in the fourth. His strike pace and combination complexity picked up through rounds five and six as well.

Not simply contending with Mayweather, McGregor slowed noticeably as the fight entered it’s final third.

Referee Robert Byrd halted the fight in the 10th round as Mayweather landed an uninterrupted flurry of punches on a wobbly McGregor.
