Arsenal beat neighbours Tottenham Hotspur on the pitch on Sunday, and they're also one-upping them on transfer deadline day. While the biggest move of the summer involved Spurs selling their best player to Real Madrid, Arsenal have made a huge splash of their own this Monday.
Mesut Ozil joins Arsenal from Real Madrid
It’s certainly difficult to imagine any other English team topping the acquisition of Mesut Ozil, which the Gunners have just confirmed via Twitter:
It's official… @MesutOzil1088 is an #Arsenal player. Read the full story, with quotes from Ozil: http://t.co/sFtrKrcOaG #OzilIsAGunner

Ozil, out of favour at Real Madrid thanks to the captures of Gareth Bale and Isco this summer, apparently cost Arsenal something in the region of £42.5 million plus very high (for the Gunners, anyway) wages. Arsene Wenger did warn us that there was going to be a surprising big move coming, but few imagined that it would be quite this big -- Arsenal have acquired a world-class player who's still yet to enter his prime. It's like the good old days all over again.
