Back-to-back subpar seasons have diminished the shine off a promising Rookie of the Year campaign in 2013. But it's not a coincidence that Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s regression coincides with Roush Fenway's slow slide into averageness. (The three-car team failed to place a driver in the Chase for the first since the playoff was instituted 12 years ago.) Whether Stenhouse can reverse the recent trend is dependent on if Roush can finally sort its engineering and aerodynamic programs out, because if not it will be another long season for all involved.
